José Gutierréz Mestre
José is a partner in the firm. He is a lawyer admitted to practice in Colombia. He has experience of more than 25 years as legal advisor to Colombian and foreign companies, mainly in the areas of litigation and private law.
Additionally, José is an arbitrator and registered secretary of the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. He has led several arbitration procedures (mainly national and international as well), before the Arbitration and Conciliation Centers of the Chambers of Commerce of Bogotá and Medellín for Antioquia, as well as preliminary claims and corporate legal proceedings before the Superintendency of Companies and the ordinary jurisdiction, among others. He has also actively participated in procurement processes, due diligence, merger, spin-off and in general, the structuring of business groups in Colombia, establishing the applicable applicable corporate schemes in the country and their operation and interaction with their parent companies, subsidiaries and affiliates in abroad, also determining internal agreements between the respective partners. José has also been a university professor in commercial and financial law.
Lawyer from the Universidad de los Andes (1995) and L.L.M. in International and Comparative Law from the University of Wollongong (2000).
